What Is the Shop and Swing Initiative?
The Shop and Swing Initiative is For The Love Of Golf’s Corporate Social Responsibility programme. Here is why we love it:
- Our social accountability is public and feedback on how well we are doing with the initiative is instant.
- We get to play golf every day.
- The initiative allows us to support causes that are near and dear to us.
- We get to hang out with our favourite kind of people – golfers buying our brand merch – every day.
- We get to pay it forward by donating Birdie Bank money to customer-nominated charities.
Our Commitment
We commit to allocating 10% of every purchase of R550 or more made in our online store to the Shop and Swing Initiative and look forward to paying the money collected after each round of fantasy golf to a worthy charity or cause.

Join me for a round of fantasy golf. Our course today has 18 holes and the course par is 72. For Round 1 we would like to raise R5 000 for charity and every purchase of R550 will add R55 to the Birdie Bank. To reach that target over 72 strokes and 18 holes, the course manager set a value for each of the different holes and calculated how many Shop and Swing events were needed to fund each hole.
- Par 3 holes are worth R220 and the fourth stroke wins the hole
- Par 4 holes are worth R275 and the fifth stroke wins the hole
- Par 5 holes are worth R495 and the ninth stroke wins the hole
Ready to tee off?
John and Mark are waiting for you and me on Hole 1; our first Par 3. John made the first purchase of R550 and took the first stroke of the hole. Mark’s purchase slotted him into the 2nd position of play and with my purchase, I took the 3rd shot. Your purchase of R550 sank the put on the 4th stroke. Congratulations on winning hole 1!
With the completion of hole 1, we have banked R220 and your charity of choice is now in the running to win the Birdie Bank once all 18 holes have been played. Also, don’t you think our 4-Ball looks absolutely stunning in our new For The Love Of Golf merchandise?
Prize giving at the 19th hole:
After 72 strokes we have 18 course hole winners, each one of them standing a chance to win the Birdie Bank proceeds for their nominated charitable causes! This is the moment the For The Love Of Golf team is looking forward to! Through office games, shenanigans and team challenges we will crown our ultimate Round winner and pay the Birdie Bank proceeds their charity. Our aim is to have fun being charitable and you are invited so don’t miss these prize giving ceremonies on our social platforms!
Can we play again?
Fancy a round at Augusta or St Andrews? Be sure to sign up to the Clubhouse newsletter to receive a notification of our next Shop and Swing tee-off time. Once a Round begins, there’s no predicting which Shop and Swinger (that is our technical term for golfers that bought our merch and qualified to play) will claim victory of a hole, slice the 21st stroke and go swimming on the 6th or win the day! We will update the Leaderboard with real-time Shop and Swing progress and provide commentary on our various social media profiles, so if you haven’t joined our social communities yet, you can do so now:
Shop and Swing Participation notes:
If you are one of our super special Shop and Swingers that have triggered a stroke play, your participation in the game and involvement in social gifting is entirely up to you. We always wanted to make this initiative about more than us, and are always humbled by the social responsibility demonstrated by our community golfers. Shop and Swingers will have a say in how we distribute the Birdie Bank funds. After a qualifying purchase, be on the look out for the “Let it Rip!” form we’ll send you where you have the option to select one of our listed charities and causes or you can nominate your own. You will also have the choice to sign your name to the charitable nomination or remain anonymous. Please note that we will only acknowledge and make payment to registered charities and causes.
